Our Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy & Learning programs
We offer individuals (ages 6-64), couples, families, and groups the opportunity to explore the Body-Mind-Spirit approach to making healthy life choices while addressing a range of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, autism, trauma, relationship challenges, dissociative disorders, ADHD, and other diagnoses. Through equine-assisted learning (EAL), participants engage in a unique method of personal and professional development utilizing interactions with horses to cultivate crucial life skills. This approach fosters self-awareness, enhances communication and leadership abilities, and fosters trust and empathy, ultimately empowering individuals to navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience.
Participating in the Saint Francis Center’s equine-assisted learning programs provides several advantages to participants, such as:
-
Enhanced communication skills: Participants learn to communicate nonverbally with sensitive horses, improving overall communication abilities.
-
Working with horses teaches effective leadership by establishing trust and respect, applicable in various settings.
-
Interacting with horses helps individuals better understand their emotions and behaviors, fostering self-awareness.
-
Dealing with unpredictable situations with horses improves adaptability and problem-solving skills.
-
Developing empathy for horses translates to improved empathy towards others in personal and professional life.
